GAMMA’s 2016 USAPA Nationals VIII Recap

November 21, 2016

The 2016 USAPA Nationals Tournament was a smash hit.

From November 5-13, 776 of the country’s best pickleball players came to compete in beautiful Casa Grande, Arizona. More than 1,000 people total were registered for various events during the week.  There were clinics, seminars, and, of course, the tournament. Spirits were high at Palm Creek Golf and RV Resort, where avid pickleball fans flocked to watch and play in the sport’s biggest event of the year. Over the course of nine days, 2,088 matches were played and 310 medals were awarded.

Arizona is a popular location for tournaments because of its balmy, cooperative weather, and this year it didn’t disappoint. While players had to deal with typical outdoor playing obstacles, such as high winds and harsh sun, they didn’t just persevere; they excelled under the conditions and made the 2016 USAPA Nationals VIII one to remember. With such a picturesque location, we aren’t surprised at the announcement that the 2017 USAPA National tournament will be held at the Palm Creek Resort as well.

2016 USAPA Nationals Tournament GameThanks to the USAPA Network, live broadcasts with commentary of the featured matches were available throughout the event, so pickleball fans everywhere could listen in on the action! If you missed any of the matches, recordings can be viewed at

This year’s events included singles, doubles and mixed doubles for USAPA 19-and-over age groups. There were also events for all Junior division age groups, and Senior Open events for players of 4.5 skill level or greater.

Members of #TeamGAMMA got in on the action of the tournament by hosting a demo day. Spectators and players came to try out GAMMA’s spectacular pickleball paddles. There’s nothing quite like fun, casual play and grade-A equipment to make an event memorable!

GAMMA is already looking forward to the 2017 USAPA National tournament. We hope to see you there!
