Getting to Know Us: Sam Miller, Supply Chain Analyst

By Paige Powers, Marketing Coordinator |

Imagine playing a sport your entire life and loving it so much to work in it! Supply Chain Analyst, Sam Miller, is a long-time tennis player who has been working at GAMMA for over 4 years. After spending the summer interning, he landed a full-time position with us. Continue reading below to learn more about him!

What is your current position at GAMMA Sports and how long have you worked here?

Supply Chain / Sales Analyst and I have been at GAMMA for 4 years.

How did you come to work with GAMMA? Have you went through any position changes during your time here?

I went to college not too far outside of Pittsburgh and was able to intern at GAMMA during my senior year. Once I graduated, I was hired on full-time. When I first started, I worked in the EDI / operations department.

What’s your favorite part of working at GAMMA?

I enjoy working with all my fellow co-workers along with working in the tennis/pickleball industry.

Where did you grow up? Are you a native to Pittsburgh? I am born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA.

Where did you go to college and what was your major?

Washington and Jefferson College and majored in History

Do you play pickleball or tennis?

Yes, I started playing tennis at a young age and continued all the way through college. As for pickleball, I started playing once I joined GAMMA.

You just started coaching high-school tennis with your dad as well! What has been your favorite part so far? Has your dad had influence on you playing the sport?

The best parts have been being able to work with my dad and our players as well as just being able to be more involved in the sport. My dad had a huge influence on me playing tennis. He was the one who originally introduced me to tennis and coached me for a long time.

Are you into any other sports?

I enjoy all sports and am pretty big fan of the Pittsburgh Penguins, Steelers, and Pirates.

Do you have a favorite sports team that you love seeing live? What’s your favorite memory of a live sporting event you’ve been to?

My favorite team to see live would probably be the Pittsburgh Penguins. Though my favorite live sports memory would be watching Roger Federer at the US Open in 2017.

Do you have any siblings? With your dad being the one to influence you playing the sport, do they all play tennis, too?

Yes, I have an older sister and younger brother who both play tennis as well.

It was interesting to find out you’re also on the board of Chow Corp. Nonprofit. Can you tell us more about your position and the company? Are we able to see the food trucks anywhere in Pittsburgh?

Chow Corp. is a nonprofit designed to provide services for military veterans through cooking therapy, cookware donations, culinary education, and business advice for anyone from home chefs to aspiring food truck or restaurant owners. The company is based in Maryland so for the time being all the events are currently held there and not Pittsburgh. It is our hope to begin to move into other states soon. As far as my position, I am on the Board of Directors charged with helping to grow the business.

If you had one day to do whatever you wanted, what would you do?

Spend time with family and friends.

What’s one piece of advice you wish someone had shared with you when you were younger?

Don’t worry about things out of your control.
