Only one week until the GAMMA Pickleball Classic is back in the city! While you are in town for the tournament, you can do so many things in and around Pittsburgh to make the whole weekend, the perfect getaway! As a ‘Yinzer’ myself, these are the top places I think that you must hit while in Pittsburgh:
Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens – As one of the oldest operating botanical conservatories in the country, you are bound to see some beautiful greenery
Duquesne Incline – Scale Mount Washington in an old-fashioned trolley car with a friend or family to catch some amazing sights of Pittsburgh.
Mount Washington – Head to Mount Washington for some beautiful panoramic views of Pittsburgh! There are multiple overlooks for those wanting an even better view and perfect picture opportunity.
Strip District -- The Strip District is home to many of Pittsburgh’s family-owned businesses and cultural eateries. From Wholey’s to Grandpa Joe’s Candy Shop, there’s something for everyone in this part of town! (You might even catch some construction workers down there as the Strip District adds even more stores and restaurants to its charm.)
Andy Warhol Museum – Explore the works of infamous artist Andy Warhol here, especially the famous Campbell’s Soup cans!
Heinz History Center – Check the Heinz History Center out and discover 250 years of Pittsburgh history from sports, Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood -- and yes – Heinz Ketchup!
Point State Park – Point State Park served as a key strategic area during the French and Indian War, and now is an open green space where Pittsburghers from all around come to enjoy warm weather and a variety of outdoor recreation. FUN FACT: The sidewalks that are in the grass are the outline of the original Fort Pitt!
Gateway Clipper -- The Gateway Clipper is a fleet of riverboats that cruises the three rivers of Pittsburgh -- the Monongahela, Allegheny, and Ohio. The fleet is named after Pittsburgh, which was once called the “Gateway to the West.” The 2021 GAMMA Pickleball Classic is bound to be a great trip to Pittsburgh!
