Good casters but why use a rare thread type?

"These are good quality casters but it baffles me why Gamma decided to use the BSW thread standard (British Standward Whitworth) for a stand made in Taiwan (which uses the metric system) because it means that the type of casters you can buy for far less in almost any hardware store won't fit."
